Kapture

What We Do

Kapture is a mobile app that rewards users for taking and sharing photos of their favorite merchants and products with their social networks.

Kapture uses a photo sharing platform and a real time rewards system to strengthen the relationships between brands, merchants and their customers.   Kapture’s cool because loyal customers are rewarded for frequenting and photographing their favorite places and merchants are able to track their brand’s social media buzz.

We think it’s a pretty awesome system, based on transforming photographs into social currency.  Pretty bad ass for a mobile app.

Who We Love: Azaleas

In my experience, I’ve noticed that there are two types of shops that will make any woman giggle: puppy stores and lingerie shops.

The former is obvious, the latter perhaps not so much.

But, I must confess, as soon as I stepped inside the door of Azaleas, a tiny East Village lingerie shop, all I could do was giggle with delight and sigh “awww” at all the lacy underthings.

I stopped by the charming store yesterday and fell into lingerie heaven.  Azaleas is stocked full of sweet polka dot bra and pantie sets, lacy undergarments, sheer nighties, tribal swim suits.

Le sigh.

I find myself stressed out at the thought of underwear shopping. Large stores like Victoria’s Secret or Bloomies are often hard to navigate, let alone find a sales representative who can devote time to your bra fitting needs.

Not the case with Azaleas. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgable.  The selection is adorable and well curated.  The store itself is quaint.  I love this little spot.

I must confess, I’m head over heels in love with Azaleas, the tiniest lingerie and swim wear shop tucked deep in the East Village.  I’d highly recommend that you check it out.  They even have an ecommerce site.

Someone is selling an unopened first generation iPhone on eBay at a slight markup from its original price of $599: a mere $10,000.

The 8GB first generation iPhone is for sale from top-rated seller samsonbible, who describes the item as a “piece of history.”

“STUNNING RARE COLLECTORS CHOICE APPLE iPHONE 1ST GENERATION 8GB AND FACTORY SEALED..!!! YOU ARE SEEING A PIECE OF HISTORY..!!!! THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE COLLECTORS SHOW PIECE..!!!! THIS WOULD BE A CROWN JEWEL FOR ANY COLLECTION..!!!! AMAZING FACTORY SEALED BOX..!!! UNOPENED AND THE COLLECTORS DREAM APPLE iPHONE..!!!!!!
THIS IS OFFERED FOR A LIMITED TIME….. !!!!!!! HAPPY BIDDING…!!!!”

The phone, which Steve Jobs revealed to an audience on Jan. 9, 2007 and first went on sale June 29 of the same year, is now — at least according to this seller — a bonafide collector’s item.

Hidden Gem: The Crooked Tree

The Crooked Tree, a creperie on Saint Marks Place, is one of those places you just know is good simply by passing by it. A lopsided tree out front, inspiring the name of the restaurant, carves out a perfect outdoor seating area for customers on nice days.  The scent of browned butter and caramelized dough wafts out onto the city street, inciting customers inside.

Just inside the restaurant, an equally as appealing dining area is decorated with unique art, wine bottles, and colorful flowers. It is small enough to create an intimate environment, but not too small that you are cramped next to other costumers.

While best known for their crepes (which come in both sweet and savory options) The Crooked Tree has a far more extensive menu- offering an array of salads and sandwiches, as well as beer, sangria, and select cocktails.

The Crooked Tree has that perfect fusion of a comfortable, friendly environment, and mouth-watering food. Definitely make sure to check it out next time you’re in the area. For more information, visit their website.
